Education: a Saudi university in the world’s top 5

The King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, is one of the universities in the United States that obtains the most patents on its innovations.
You’ve probably all heard of Harvard, Princeton, or Yale… These leading American universities are almost ubiquitous in Western pop-culture and their prestigious reputation is well established. But what about King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals?
Small but strong
Less well known than the illustrious institutions mentioned above, it clearly has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of its performance and results in terms of innovation, since it has just been ranked 4th in the world in the annual list of the schools, having won the most patents, compiled by the national academy of inventors and the association of intellectual property owners, second only to the University of California, the University of Texas and … the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), nothing less.
The Saudi Minister of Energy, and incidentally chairman of the school’s board, Prince Abdul Aziz Ben Salmane, praised the performance, stressing that it was the result of the university’s strategy and methodology in research and innovation, and thanking in passing his sovereigns, King Salmane and Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane, for their support to education.
