Expo 2020 Dubai: hopefully reuniting us all post-pandemic

It may be difficult to imagine now that we’re at the heart of it, but we will have surmounted this pandemic in the near future, a crisis that, despite its destructive nature, brings us all together in our vulnerability. The Dubai 2020 expo, planned for October to last six whole months, remains on-schedule as of now, and with hope, will serve as an platform for people from all over the world to reunite and plan for a more sustainable future.

This World Expo, held in Dubai, aims to congregate all different backgrounds over a shared curiosity for art, culture, geography, science, technology, innovation and invention. The exchange will certainly be deepened by our diverging yet relatable lived experiences of the virus, which will us help rebuild together as citizens of the world.

The first World Expo was London’s Great Exhibition of 1851, and since then World Expos have been hosted on every continent, every five years, with a changing theme. This year the focus will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” to foster much needed creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

192 countries are still expected to be present, intermingling a the thematic pavilions, housing interactive exhibitions, performance spaces, innovation galleries, art installations and outdoor gardens.

Attractions at every turn

Starting from the Al Wasl Plaza, you will have endless access to artwork and interactive installations from both local and international talents. You can then go on an architectural adventure and marvel at the pavilions built on innovative and sustainable designs.

When you feel a slump, you can lay down and watch a movie 360 degree screening projected onto the ceiling, or catch any of the 60 daily live shows from operas to theatre, flash mobs or sporting events.

For tech enthusiasts their time can be spent playing around with autonomous vehicles, robotics, augmented reality and space explorations.

Needless to say, no one will be left behind.
