Marwan Kenzari (Jafar in Aladdin) will star in a sci-fi thriller with Tessa Thompson

The actor who starred as Jafar in Aladdin’s last feature film will share the poster for the film Balestra alongside Tessa Thompson. The film, a psychological thriller featuring a fencer with the ability to train in her dreams, promises to be thrilling. Synopsis.
Training while dreaming
The film’s screenplay has everything to please fans of psychological thrillers, a genre that has seen the emergence of genius directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, and Christopher Nolan and films such as Shutter Island and Inception.
Currently in pre-production, Balestra tells the story of a disgraced competitive fencer named Joanna Batory (played by Tessa Thompson). Eager to make her return to the Olympics, she began using a prototype device that allowed her to extend her training into her sleep hours, allowing her to have lucid dreams. The plot thickens as she meets the character of Elliot (played by Marwan Kenzari) in her dreams.

The film seems to play on the porosity of perception of what is real and what is not from Joanna Batory’s point of view to create a climate of reflection for the viewer who, when watching it, will undoubtedly have to ask himself the question of the reality of certain passages he discovers on the screen.
A five-star cast
Produced by Tessa Thompson, it’s no exaggeration to say that the film has given itself the means to achieve its ambitions to break into the world box office. Nicole Dorsey, known in the audiovisual world for having directed Black Conflux and Delta Venus, is at the helm of the production.
The gondola heads of the cast are also major assets that should weigh on the success of the project. By securing Marwan Kenzari and Tessa Thompson, the film relies on a promising duo of actors who have already proven, through their past appearances, that they are great characters in the world of cinema. By saying that, we think of course of Tessa Thompson’s great performances in Westworld, Men In Black or Creed, and to Kenzari’s impressive performance in the movie Aladdin.
It should not be the only time that the Tunisian will shine this year since he will also appear in the film The Old Guard alongside another big-screen mastodon: Charlize Theron.
