Saudi Arabia acquires its first electric car charging station

Saudi Arabia has just taken a new step in favour of the environment. A few weeks after the announcement made by Saudi Automotive Services Co (SACO), a branch of one of Arabia’s largest gas station chains, about the upcoming launch of several charging stations for electric cars, the kingdom has just installed its first charging station in Riyadh.

This is a concrete achievement for the country when we know that the local authorities have been working for several months on a plan to introduce electric vehicles in the Saudi market.

2018, the year of the turning point in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia, the world’s second largest oil producer, made the choice in 2018 to promote the use of electric vehicles, following in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates, which, through numerous initiatives such as the establishment of free charging stations for all, free parking for clean cars and tax cuts, have demonstrated their commitment to reducing their dependence on oil.

With this first introduction of an electric charging station, Saudi Arabia seems to be in line with its reforms aimed at reducing its polluting emissions into the environment and integrating their highly prized circle of greener states.
