Marvel unveils Arab superhero

The new character of the famous American comic strip franchise Marvel comes from Dearborn, Michigan, and has two characteristics that are rare enough in this universe to deserve to be highlighted: he is Arab and Muslim.
A few years ago, the Arab-Muslim community welcomed with open arms the arrival of a superhero who represents it, in the person of Miss Marvel, or Kamala Khan.
On twitter, Jordanian-American designer Sara Alfageeh announced the birth of Marvel’s not-so-small last one: Amulet. He’ll appear in the 13th issue of Miss Marvel.
UHM. SOME NEWS. I designed the newest superhero for Ms. Marvel!
Meet Amulet.
4 years ago reading Ms. Marvel vol 1 convinced me to become an illustrator. AMULET means so much to me as a nerdy lil Arab kid.
Thank you @saladinahmed for trusting me with him!https://t.co/XEhnS4JGyu pic.twitter.com/0Flozk99lK— Sara Alfageeh (@SaraAlfageeh) December 18, 2019
An Arab world avatar
As she explains, it was upon reading the first volume of Miss Marvel four years ago that the young girl decided to become an illustrator. It’s a beautiful story of personal accomplishment that reflects on an entire community.
The new character has blue hair and is called Fadi Fadlalah. Although we don’t know much about his superpower “kit” yet, apart from the use of magic, we already know where he comes from. He comes straight from Dearborn, in the state of Michigan, a city where the Arab-Muslim community is particularly present.
